Volunteer drivers needed
Mayor Eddie McCann asked for volunteer drivers for TransporAction Pontiac. They should call the town hall in Luskville at 819-455-2401. Drivers are paid per km driven. (in French, Journal de Pontiac 2006.03.29, page 22).
Le Droit had an item recently reporting that Harry Gow, president of Transports collectifs des Collines, had launched an appeal for volunteer drivers, mainly in the Luskville area of the municipality of Pontiac.
In this sector, service is given by TransporAction Pontiac, and sometimes drivers have to travel large distances to take people to their hospital or other appointments. This takes longer and costs more than if we have local drivers. So we are looking for volunteer drivers in Luskville and Quyon to allow people in these sectors to get around more quickly, said Mr Gow. Community (collectif) transport is available to people who live in isolated areas, who have no car or cannot drive for health reasons. They can use a taxi, a school bus or a car driven by a volunteer to get to important appointments. In the MRC des Collines, community (collectif) transport made 2200 trips and carried 450 people last year.
