Pontiac council report - bike path along highway 148
Mo Laidlaw
The regular council meeting was rescheduled for October 27, 2008 following failure to achieve quorum on October 15.
A new route for the bicycle trail Sentier Pontiac was adopted. (A different route, mostly along municipal roads was adopted in March 2008.) The new route starts at the intersection of the former rail-line and chemin Terry-Fox (Pontiacs town-line with the Aylmer sector of Gatineau), goes along the rail bed to Domaine Bellevue, along Asaret to highway 148 (at Dépanneur Eardley). Then it follows highway 148 all the way to rue de Clarendon at the entrance to Quyon. To pass through Quyon it follows Clarendon and MacKechnie and joins up with the PPJ at Wyman. Four related resolutions were passed to ask for funding of 25% of the cost of feasibility studies for the highway section and 25% of the cost of plans and sketches for the Quyon section, from the route verte and cycling policy programs of the ministry of Transport.
