Pontiac council report - Bridge repairs in Quyon
Mo Laidlaw

The council meeting of 8 December 2009 was attended by over 15 residents.
Public input
William Kovacs complained that he has been given insufficient time to clean up his property before legal action is taken. Mayor McCann told him he is not being singled out: there are about 150 open files on nuisances.
William Spekkens congratulated the municipality on the progress with the drainage ditch on Cedarvale.
Bill Twolan asked who is snow-ploughing Elm and Hurdman roads as he isn’t.
Dog catcher/ SPCA
Pat Lusk had complaints about the service provided by animal control: they asked her to catch a dog before they would pick it up.
André Rivet complained that the more he complains to the SPCA about his neighbour’s dogs, the less often anything is done. He claimed that his neighbour has 16 dogs who have been barking since 2007. Another neighbour stated that there are in fact three dogs and he rarely hears them bark. Mayor McCann said, “Let the courts decide.”
Minor derogation
A majority of council supports the request of Johanne Chausse and Daniel Albert for a minor derogation because a garage was built (in error) too close to the property line.
Bridge repairs in Quyon
The bridge next to the M&R feeds mill on Egan road is closed for repairs which increases the time required to snowplough the sidewalks. Council agreed to support a request to the ministry of Transport to assist the contractor. At an earlier meeting council decided to inform MoT that it wishes to keep the ruins of the mill dam in the river next to the bridge.
Reduced speed on hwy 148
Council requests the MoT to reduce the speed limit in Heyworth, from 200 m southeast of Mountain road to the beginning of the four-lane section.
Skating rink in Luskville
Brent Mainville will be responsible for maintenance this winter.
Meetings in Breckenridge and Quyon
It is planned to hold the May council meeting in Breckenridge and the September meeting in Quyon. This requires a bylaw.
